Journal Entry: Thu Dec 18, 2008, 7:51 PM

Even tho its been more than a year since I last posted in my journal, I've decided to finally update.

Once again, I've decided to re-open the featured artist section in my journal, hoping to get it running at least on a bi-weekly basis. And as well, a selection of my favorite pieces from a defined topic or style.

If you have any artist or topic suggestion, or would like to be featured, feel free to note me so I can notice. Also, the info here is my personal opinion, feel free to discuss it with arguments, not just spam.

The featured artist goes to an user I recently found while searching the pieces for the favorite spontaneous portrait selection. Hope you like it as much as I do.

A L M E I D A (ricardo)

Ricardo Almeida provides the dA community, directly from Portugal, a beautiful photographic collection covering a full range of topics, from portraits (with great lightning), urban life (focusing on structures and contrasts) to animals (look for a piece named "Blue").

His portraits have a "something" that make them look like if you knew the model from a long time ago. The superb use of light and shadow exalt each model's personality, as well as those details that usually would pass without notice. Personally, I consider his personal signature to be how most of his portraits give the feeling of being taken a fraction of second before an unexpected event catches model's attention.
